The Spring Festival of Győr is a global arts festival, where in addition to music, theatre production, dancing events and expositions are organised as well. The two-week festival commences with a street march, which was conceived in the mark of the cultic winter burying and waiting for spring. The event of the highest rank in the festival is the International Percussion Festival of Győr. This muster of percussion instruments is unique all over Hungary because not only one genre but also all styles of music played on percussion instruments are represented in the event, from classical music through  laic, ethnic and jazz genres up to experimental, contemporary productions.

 

 

Nice jazz music, flattering the ears is looking forward to everyone interested in the Széchenyi tér of Győr on every second Sunday from May to August. The excellent artists of domestic jazz and musical life put up single formations, inviting the public to forgetful joy music.

 

 

One of the musical events with long-lasting tradition in our town is the musical pavilion concert series in the Győr Musical Promenade the site of which is the Radó Island. The roots of the event go back to the first decade of the 20th century and bring up the world of popular promenades characterising the era, the palmy days of martial music.

 

 

The summarising name of the not-small number of events of Győr town is the Four Seasons Festival rowing the high-rank programmes all the year long and the season opening and season closing concerts. The global art festival series embraces all types of entertainment, should they be concerts, theatre performances, festivals, expositions, gastronomy programmes or programmes for children, it is sure that there is a large number of them among the programmes of the Four Seasons Festival!

 

 

Győr is the home of the Dance Festival in even years and that of the Biannual Dancing Art Festival in odd years where both Hungarian and international companies appear.

 

 

The era of Saint Ladislaus, by establishing domestic peace, was one of the outstanding époques of Hungarian history. Can the life and realm of King Ladislaus (László király) be at a distance of almost one thousand years still they have a message for us. The heritage given to us has been important mainly from ecclesiastic aspect in our town. One of the important virtues of the programme is that the figure of King Saint Ladislaus can be connected to Győr clearly. The concept of the event is depicted by the historical era, the Middle Ages, and the
figure of the king that is connected to the notions of knighthood, gallantry and honesty. The events of the festival take place in the historical downtown and on the Golden Beach (Aranypart). Most of the invited productions are surrounded by the world of contemporary props and they mean a popular spectacle.

 

 

In July high-level programmes are looking forward to the interested to the performances of the Győr Water Stage in the series of events entitled Summer Music Evenings on the side of Rába River.

The events of the baroque wedding are decisive in the programme-series of the Four Seasons Festival. Tradition-preserving fairs, contemporary programmes and an unavoidable wedding ceremony crown the summer baroque week-end.

 

 

The streets of the downtown are changed into small restaurants, vine houses by creating the nice background atmosphere for the festival.

 

 

Dance, music and folk art in all possible quantities, in the programme dumping of the Festival of Hungarian Traditions organised within the framework of the Festival of Craft-unions and nothing else could be the best additional programme of the event but the Pálinka (Brandy) Festival of Győr! The downtown of Győr becomes the centre of homage to domestic tradition, you can eat, drink, hear and see the best of the Hungaricums*. The Winter Festival of Győr organised within the framework of the Four Seasons Festival is the true Christmas greeting of the town, which is opened by the ceremonial programme of Városház tér traditionally. The illuminated streets and squares give a brilliant atmosphere to the events of Advent. Several thousands of bulbs emit the lights of the festivity in the wonderfully decorated downtown and the celebration atmosphere is further improved by the candle lighting in the downtown on each Advent Sunday afternoon  but the concerts of classical and popular music, cultural programmes and, of course, the Advent Fair cannot be avoided either.
